Lela Night

Every year on December 19 (Chuck and Lela's anniversary), we have "Lela Night" in remembrance of my sweet mother-in-law who passed away 13 years ago. This year we had to postpone it until December 21 because Jeff and Jamie were stuck at the airport due to weather. We always have dinner, watch "White Christmas" with Bing Crosby and just enjoy the memories. The boys always roll their eyes and even sometimes fast forward if Chuck leaves the room for a potty break. Ugh, boys will be boys. The girls all enjoy the musical and even sing along with the songs. The same jokes and comments are heard every year--the gay jokes from the boys and comments on "that waist and those legs" (on Vera-Ellen) from Chuck. We also get to hear every year about how Dean Jagger, the General in the movie, became a Mormon and how the one male dancer, George Chakiris, is Greek and is also in Westside Story. Good ol' Chuck. It never gets old. We just laugh every time.

This year Santa surprised us with a visit and all the kids took turns sitting on his lap. Notice Chuck on Santa's lap? I guess you're never too old to tell Santa your wishes for Christmas morning.
