Spring Break 2011!

For Spring Break we didn't go anywhere exciting for vacation,
but we did have a great time.
Monday the kids played with cousins.
Tuesday we went to the park and played with cousins.
Wednesday we went to Trafalga and
then watched Mitchell open his mission call.
Thursday we went to Nickle City.
Friday we went for ice cream at SubZero and then launched rockets.
Saturday we went for ice cream again and played with cousins.
So as much as my kids try to tell you how "picked on" they are for not going on vacation over Spring Break, they had tons of fun and were spoiled rotten.

Rocket Launch in 5...4...3...2...1

Peyton got a 2 stage rocket for his birthday so the boys decided to go launch it. Dawson and his friend stood in the field watching and waiting to catch the rocket as it fell to the ground. It was pretty fun to watch. And the wind was perfect. No chasing or searching today! Yay!

Festival of Colors 2011

Today was our annual trip to Color Fest at the Sri Sri Radha Krishna temple in Spanish Fork! If you've never been, it is amazing and they had record crowds this year. Grandpa Nackos even went with us this. We enjoyed the colors, the crowds, the music and the vegetarian meal. Wish it was a tad bit warmer, but at least the rain held off until we were safely in our car driving home!

I absolutely love welcoming "Spring" this way and I love that EVERYONE looks the same once the colors start flying. I love being part of this cultural event. It's great to see how others celebrate life!

Weekend with Friends at Sundance

James and I went with his friends up to a cabin at Sundance for the weekend. We had a great time. We enjoyed amazing food, fun games, long walks, the NCAA tournament, movies, more games, late nights, great talks, pranks, flying cats and monkeys, and lots of laughs !

Kade's Birthday! Sweet 16...

Kade turned 16 today! Where does the time go? I can't believe he's old enough to drive! What a scary thought.

Kade is our entrepreneur. He is always thinking of ways to make money, start a business or change the world--one computer game at a time. He has always been a go-getter. If he wanted something(an I-pod or X-box), he didn't wait around to ask us for one, he just earned the money at bought it himself. For Christmas (2009), he really wanted a gaming computer (expensive) so he researched it, found the parts he wanted and built it with his friend. Since the cost was still more than we usually spent on Christmas, he offered to pay off the difference. And within months he had--every last cent!

He is very smart and goal-oriented. In fact, he is a list-maker, like me. He will definitely go far in life! Happy Birthday Bud! We are so proud of you and love you!

And for dinner tonight we will, of course, have....tacos. Was there ever a question?

Utah State Capitol

Peyton and I went with his class on a field trip to the State Capitol. I had never been there before. It's amazing how beautiful it is--inside and out. We learned so much about the State government and history. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time!

Dawson Turns 12!!!

Dawson has a great sense of humor and remembers lots of useless facts just like his dad. In fact, he is a miniature James in every way. He has become James' new TV watching partner because somehow he remembers stupid references from old episodes or other movies...even from when he was super little. Crazy!
He is also our little mischievous one--always teasing and sneaking around, trying to hang out with the older kids, stirring things up a bit. He's a great example to his little brother and they go everywhere together--kind of a package deal. He's so funny! He set his alarm for 12:21 am (the exact time he was born) just so he would know the exact moment he turned 12! Of course, because he is our night (or early morning) owl, he was still awake anyway. That's Dawson for you.
Happy Birthday Da-Da! We love you!

For his and Kade's birthday dinner we went to Ruby River as a family Friday night. When asked what he wanted for his birthday, he said $$$!

Tanner's Mission Begins

Tanner's "unofficial mission farewell" was on Sunday Jan. 30, 2011. His talk was amazing. We had lots of friends and family there to show their support for him. We had an open-house afterwards at my mom's with lots of food. Tanner was officially set apart as a missionary on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011. He entered the MTC on Feb. 2, 2011 after a tearful goodbye. Go BYU! Jimmer Rocks!

Everyone knows we are BYU fans, (thus the BYU mailbox), but I just have to say...Maybe, just maybe, this year I will win March Madness! I, being the loyal BYU fan, always have my boys winning several brackets--usually to an impossible level. People laugh at me and say, "Yeah right." But I'm always hopeful for the upset. Now this year, with Jimmer Fredette rocking everyone's world, and our 20-1 record, maybe I really will have chance when I take them to the Final Four. Maybe this year, we'll get the recognition we deserve. And maybe this year, people won't laugh at my picks!
Go Cougs! Keep it up!

New Mission Blog

I've decided to start a new mission blog for Tanner while he is on his mission. I will try to post pictures and letters. Hopefully, that will make it easier for people to follow his progress and success. You can follow his blog by clicking www.eldernackos.blogspot.com.

Enter the Nackos Home at Your Own Risk!

So walk around the corner or down the stairs at my house lately; and you might just be the accidental target of a nerf dart. The boys have been having Nerf gun wars nightly and unfortunately their "trigger fingers" are faster than their brains can process the sight of Mom coming around the corner rather than the enemy. Go figure. I'll say it again---What did I expect with all boys?

Happy Birthday Tanner!

Tanner turned 19 today! Yes I really am that old. Ugh!
Tanner is such a good kid. He has always excelled at school, sports; whatever he puts his mind to. He 's a great example to his younger brothers. He loves playing games (because he usually wins), watching sports or TV shows with James (because the two of them remember every bit of useless, mundane information out there--and therefore get every inside joke ever told), and playing stupid games on his computer or phone. (Hmmm. Like father, like son). He's always sensitive to my moods and will tell me he loves me or kisses me on the cheek to cheer me up.

For his birthday dinner we went to Tucanos. It was quite delicious though all of us ate entirely too much. His soon-to-be mission president from Maryland even called to wish him a Happy Birthday! How cool is that?
Happy Birthday Bud! You are a great kid! Love you!

Peyton Turns Ten!

My baby turned ten! 10! Can you believe it? It's absolutely crazy! TEN!!!

Peyton is our silly-nilly. He is always telling jokes or copying the ones he heard from Dawson. (They constantly fight over who heard or told it first!) He is also our little Football Freak! He could tell you all season long which NFL teams played when and who they played against. He knows the schedules, the scores, the players and even played in a sort of fantasy league called "Home Team Challenge". He is a cute kid, who is smart, well-rounded and full of life.
We LOVE him! Happy 10th Birthday Bud!

For his birthday dinner we went to Magleby's as a family. We had a great time. He wanted an electric blanket and a model rocket (stage 2). He made sure to tell me exactly where to get the model rocket (at the Hobby store across the freeway from Wal-mart). And he reminded me to make sure it said "Stage 2" on it! I don't even know what that means, but I'm sure they will have fun launching it off!
